Thanks to all who attended the September 2008 meeting of the Acadiana Open Source Group. Corey Bordelon's presentation on open source licenses was very well-received and spurred a lot of discussion regarding philosophy behind licenses and their effect on the economic impact of open source software. Thanks to UL Computer Science Department for hosting the meeting.
Announcements:
- The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, October 30, at the ACTR building on UL campus. Suggested topics include content management systems as well as a crash course in the PHP programming language. If you have an opinion on either, feel free to post it as a comment on this blog entry or in the forums.
- The Lafayette CampFiber will be held Saturday October 4 at the Travis Technology Center. It will include a segment for developers to discuss the technologies and platforms they use and potential impact of the LUSFiber project on their innovations. Admission is free but seating is limited, so register soon.
- This year's ApacheCon will be held at the Sheraton New Orleans November 3-7. Register soon if you plan to attend.
- A combined php|works / PyWorks 2008 Conference will be held November 12-14 in Atlanta, GA and its schedule has been posted.
- A seminar entitled Do It With Drupal will be held December 10-12 in the Marriot Hotel in New Orleans. Early bird registration ends November 1 and seats are limited, so register soon if you plan to attend.
