All Acadiana residents with an interest in open source technologies are invited to attend the September 2008 meeting of the Acadiana Open Source Group on Wednesday, September 24 at 6:30 p.m.
The meeting will be held in the Advanced Computer Technology and Research building on UL campus thanks to arrangements made by faculty of the Computer Science Department for us to use their facilities. The exact room number will be announced once it is available, but signs will be posted around the building on the day of the meeting to direct attendees. Parking is available in Zone 13. See this map for locations of the parking lot and the ACTR building.
Corey Bordelon will tentatively be presenting a talk entitled "Making Heads or Tails of Open Source Licensing." This talk will detail what open source licenses are, the various existing licenses under which open source software can be distributed and differences between them, and what licenses might be most appropriate for particular types of projects.
Apologies for the late notice, but events arising from the two recent hurricanes have made it difficult to organize this meeting. Please remember to help to spread the word about the meeting to family, friends, classmates, and colleagues so we can get a good turnout!
