Thanks to all who attended the July 2008 meeting of the Acadiana Open Source Group. Blake Deville's presentation on OpenSolaris and Sun xVM VirtualBox raised a lot of interesting inquiries and discussion. Thanks again to UL Computer Science Department for hosting the meeting as well as to special guest Matt Delcambre from Sun Microsystems for fielding questions. Announcements:
- The topic and date of the next meeting will be determined via forums pollls. Be sure to register on the forums, cast your vote before Wednesday 8/13, and post to the forums if you'd like to suggest and/or volunteer to speak on a particular topic.
- BarCamp Lafayette will be held on 10/4 at the Travis Technology Center. It will include a segment for developers to discuss the technologies and platforms they use and potential impact of the LUSFiber project on their innovations.
- UL Today is looking for people with experience in PHP/MySQL-based open source content management systems to provide volunteer consulting (likely for one evening with a meal provided) on a project to port their web site from an existing solution. Contact Joe Abraham for more information.
