All Acadiana residents with an interest in developing open source technologies are invited to attend the August 2008 meeting of the Acadiana Open Source Group on Wednesday, August 27 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Advanced Computer Technology and Research building on UL campus thanks to arrangements made by faculty of the Computer Science Department for us to use their facilities. The exact room number will be announced once it is available, but signs will be posted around the building on the day of the meeting to direct attendees. Parking is available in Zone 13. See this map for locations of the parking lot and the ACTR building.

This meeting is unique in the lifetime of AOS because the meeting date and topic were put to a vote by its membership. Votes are in and, by popular demand, Matthew Turland will be presenting on the development of PHP-based web services using the Zend Framework. This presentation will be targetted at developers, but will include background information on the various web service protocols supported in Zend Framework as well as their respective framework components. Please remember to help to spread the word about the meeting to family, friends, classmates, and colleagues!
