Thanks to all who attended the April 2009 meeting of the Acadiana Open Source Group. Matthew Turland's presentation on web scraping with PHP was well-attended and followed by an interesting discussion of current projects being worked on by individual members. Continued thanks go out to UL Computer Science Department for continuing to host our meetings.
- The Acadiana .NET User Group will hold a meeting beginning at 5:45 PM on Thursday May 28 at LEDA. Ben Bingham will present on TDD, BDD, and other agile development practices.
- The Acadiana Adobe User Group will hold a meeting beginning at 6 PM on May 19 to tour Abacus Data Exchange in the Oil Center, a web hosting and virtual server provider.
- php|tek 2009 will be held May 19-22 in Rosement, IL. It will include Unconference, Hackathon, and TestFest events in addition to regular conference sessions on a variety of topics.
- In the wake of OSCON 2009 being moved to San Jose, CA, a new OSS conference Open Source Bridge has come together through the efforts of volunteers. It will be held June 16-19 in Portland, OR. Registration is available.
- A FOSS in Healthcare Unconference will be held July 31-August 2 in Houston, TX. Registration is available and admission is $250.
- The evangelism position advertised earlier this year is still open. If you would be interested in helping to spread the word about the Acadiana Open Source Group, please contact Matthew Turland.
- The Acadiana Open Source Group is always looking for speakers to present at meetings, sponsorship of refreshments or door prizes, and information about upcoming open source-related events (especially those local to the state or surrounding states).
